Steak Marinade
Ingredients:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon honey or brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary (or 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, minced)
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves)
1/2 teaspoon paprika (smoked paprika adds a nice flavor)
Pinch of red pepper flakes (adjust to taste, for heat)
2 pounds of your favorite steaks (such as ribeye, sirloin, or New York strip)
Instructions:
Prepare the Marinade:
In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, honey or brown sugar, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, paprika, and red pepper flakes. Ensure all the ingredients are well combined.
Marinate the Steaks:Place your steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag.
Pour the marinade over the steaks, making sure they are well coated.
Seal the dish or bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to 2 hours. The longer you marinate, the more flavorful your steaks will be. You can even marinate them overnight for maximum flavor.
Grill or Cook:Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure it's well-oiled to prevent sticking.
Remove the steaks from the marinade and let any excess drip off.
Grill or cook the steaks to your desired level of doneness, typically 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, depending on thickness.
Allow the steaks to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Serve:Slice your marinated steaks against the grain for a tender and flavorful bite.
Serve with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad.
This classic steak marinade adds layers of flavor and enhances the natural richness of your steaks. It's a perfect choice for summer barbecues or anytime you want to elevate your steak dinner.
